I want to know what YOU would do to meet Kid Rock?

I’ve had this site for quite a while now and really haven’t developed on it much. I love Kid Rock and launched the site with high hopes of meeting him. Unfortunately my employer doesn’t share my hopes so tinkering on the site during work hours is strictly taboo. And let’s face it; If I can’t do stuff like this on the boss’s dime, then it’s just not worth doing. So I guess that just shows how far I’m willing to go to meet Kid Rock. However… every day the traffic on this site grows and the top search terms are all from people wanting to meet Kid Rock themselves, so I want to know:

What crazy, thoughtful, or downright stupid things would you be willing to do if it meant you could meet The American Badass?

2003 was a powerhouse year for Kid Rock as he released both his self-titled album, and “Cocky“. Kid displayed a much softer side when he teamed up with Sheryl Crow for the chart-topping duet “Picture“. This single would push the genre boundaries and classify Kid as a crossover artist as it climbed up the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Singles, AND Adult Contemporary charts, peaking at number 4 while the Cocky album itself reached number 3.

In an interview about the song Rock says “[Sheryl and I] hooked up one year at the Grammys and talked. I had the idea for the song, and she came to Detroit, and we sat down together and bounced ideas off of each other. We wrote and recorded the song in a day and had fun hanging out for the next two days.”

Did you know that Kid Rock’s little sister, Jill Ritchie is a young actress? Her film credits include parts in “Ready to Rumble“, “Nancy Drew“, “Breakin’ All the Rules” and “Herbie: Fully Loaded.” Jill Ritchie is most famous as a member of the all-girl crime fighting group D.E.B.S. alongside Sara Foster, Jordana Brewster, Devon Aoki and Meagan Good. Jill’s passion for acting developed in the 6th grade when she played the Snow Queen in the production of “The Nutcracker”. After that, she continued to star in numerous plays around the outskirts of Detroit, along with 15 years of dance training and 4 years of vocal training. At the age of 18, Jill decided to pursue her dream of becoming a professional actress. Her first stop was her attendance at Depaul University’s Theatre School for one year, after which she transferred to the University of Southern California (USC). At USC she starred in many plays including the musicals “Guys and Dolls” and “West Side Story”. Jill got her first TV break during college, with a role on the hit TV show “ Beverly Hills, 90210”.

Only God Knows Why appears on the album Devil Without a Cause and peaked on the Billboard Modern Rock charts at number 5 in the year 2000. It was the highest-ranking track off the album which managed to climb to number 4 in the Billboard top 200 that same year. At the time it would tie with “Cowboy” as his most popular track to date. This personal success was later beat by his duet, “Picture” with Sheryl Crow 3 years later.

“Party music for people who lived through the ’70s, or wish they did. As Rock once told me: “I love the ’70s, because the music was ugly and great. The faces behind it were these ugly mothers, who were great musicians and made great music. It never got better than that.“”

I have to agree with that statement. I think Kid Rock is a voice for all those white trash down home barbecues I used to throw before I became a corporate schmuck (thank god those schmuck days are over). Raw, vulgar, heartfelt, enthusiastic, and overall… natural. It’s something I haven’t latched onto since Bocephus was big, and can’t find in many other artists no matter how hard I try. Maybe it’s time to pull out the grill, fill up the cooler, and crank up the stereo now that “Rock and Roll Jesus” is embedded in my blood.
